PS Plate (Pre-sensitized Plate) represents one of the most established and time-tested categories of traditional platemaking materials in the printing industry, widely used across book, newspaper, packaging, and general commercial sheetfed printing applications. PS plates typically feature a grained and anodized aluminum substrate pre-coated with a photosensitive layer, and are processed through UV exposure on a platemaking machine followed by conventional development and washing steps to complete image transfer. This category is known for its highly standardized workflow, relatively low equipment investment, and dependable plate stability, making it especially well suited for small and mid-sized print operations that are cost-conscious or have not yet transitioned to CTP digital workflows. Although the adoption of CTP technology has reduced PS plate usage in certain segments, its mature, reliable process and broad equipment compatibility continue to make it an essential foundational plate category in everyday commercial printing.
